Make sure you have turned on hardware 3D acceleration in the graphics menu. I don't think it's on by default.

If you've already done that and still have the problem, I remember there being some other settings you can mess with, like D3D. I don't see why it would help, but on a system like yours you ...

Hey, thanks--this is great feedback. Somehow, I expected there would be more XP available than 6 Million X six players...

We've been testing the modified ending of ToB with well equipped, six-member parties at the XP cap. This weekend I'll test to make sure that even a six-member party with 6M XP ...

Thank you--that helps.

I guess another thing I would then like to know: Did you install ToB before finishing SoA to avoid the 3M SoA cap? What really interests me is whether there is enough XP available in ToB alone (incl. Watcher's Keep) to take a full party from 3 Million to 8M. I know there is ...

What was your XP total at the end of ToB?

I am very interested in how much XP your protagonist had just before going into the last battle of ToB. Please tell me also how large your party was, whether you spent a long time butchering Derro in Sendai's lair, and whether you smacked everything that moved, or ignored some of the side quests ...

Check back here in two weeks or so. David Gaider of Bioware should announce his huge (unofficial) mod which rewrites the entire ending of ToB with something 100 times better. It's in testing right now. Get a party ready, because this one might really tax your combat skills.

Yes, I am testing parts of it, and several of us are in contact with DG pretty regularly, sending him feedback and/or code. I don't want to draw too much attention to the unreleased stuff because it looks like the thing already has some pretty thurough testers, and the release time should be pretty ...

What I meant was: if you have to kill something mean and you can only waste one spell and no potions/charges/scrolls, I think you should pick Project Image.

Remember that your Projected Image can cast Wish, or read it from a scroll. I'm only saying that in terms of percentages, Project Image is the ...

Very soon now, a completely re-written ending with hundreds of hours of work will be made available for download. The programming was done by David Gaider and the rest of IEEAIS. It looks like it will be lots of fun, and very hard.

Somebody mentioned Project Image already. I think that spell is so good I feel like I cheat when I use it. My evidence that it's the best: try killing a dragon while taking no damage and using up exactly one spell. This can be done pretty easily with Project Image.

Well, I'm sure you'll think this is good news: David Gaider (senior Bioware programing dude) and some top AI scripters are now testing an early beta of an entirely new (and better--but I don't want to spoil it) ending to ToB, designed by DG. It is huge compared to the things on Baldurdash, and it ...

I never had much respect for Archers but that's slowly changing. At ToB levels they can really do a lot of damage with their arrows, and get 3 attacks per round with each arrow being almost a sure hit. The problem is, shooting arrows is the only thing they do well.

A regular figher advances levels ...

I like to test melee combat scripts in the Derro tunnel. I noticed that if you equip a solo fighter with all the AC-reducing gear and use Blackrazor/Reflection Shield, you gain back HP faster than you lose it. Many of the crossbow Derro just kill themselves, and Blackrazor periodically drains HP and ...

I still don't see how any of the tests in Hell show your immorality. If I ever played a good character, I'd be thinking this:

1. It's obvious Sarevok will fight me anyway; why waste my time vainly trying to talk him down?

2. I release the genie by destroying his material form, and I keep ...

Actually, maybe I'm counting the boat journey in both directions; if you go from Spellhold directly to the Underark, then yes, you can do it much faster.

You can't do it in 12 days. If I remember right, you spend longer than that on the boat to Spellhold!

I don't think it's possible to go much faster than 25 days (unmodified BG2, no cheating, some cheese). Soloing, I once did it in 27, but I "lingered" in Akthala for almost three days before getting on the boat. I even rested once!

I think it's all the cheese-abuses of Mislead that led programmers to give every reasonable ToB enemy the ability to see invisible.

The whole "leave your decoy behind and attack without fear of retribution" strategy is cute when you first try it, but it's obviously a shortcoming of the game, not a ...

I'd say you shouldn't do it. I've tried it both ways, and found it's better for the party to keep the strength devices. Remember that you have 25str only when the hammer is equipped; when you switch to a hurling weapon you're the same weakling you were before.

The difference between STR 21 and 25 ...
