Well, I just finished ToB and I still feel that Inquisitors are too powerful (in PvE, not PvP). Got a group of Hive Mothers and Mariliths? No problem, one uber-dispel magic will instantly drop all those stoneskins 100% of the time.
There may be some spells that aren’t affected by dispel magic, but ...

You’re right Xyx, I didn’t realize that spell immunity-abj protected against dispel magic. Are there any mobs in the entire game that cast immunity-abj? If not, then my original point that Inquisitors make the game too easy is still valid. Though I will concede that they probably would not win a PvP ...

Yeah, Keldorn is pretty lousy stat wise. You have to give him the gauntlets of dex or he’s worthless as a front line fighter.
However, his dispel magic ability still works better than any mage spell at downing protective spells. Heck, even if you stick him in the back of the group and let him fire ...

I guess it’s possible for a mage to beat an Inquisitor. About the only way I could see it happening is with the time stop/improved alacrity combo. Even then, you would have to drop the Inquisitor’s MR by a lot to even hope to have an effect (even then Pally’s still have good saves).
However, I just ...

Don’t get me wrong. I realize that the whole “wizard killer” idea is in character for an Inquisitor. I just think they are a little broken from a pure gameplay standpoint. I just feel like I’m just walking through fights that are supposed to be really hard. I certainly haven’t reloaded nearly as ...

I’m having the same problem beaver_cheese. Pretty early on in ToB, I go the same dialog with Jahiera (the “you're still important to me”). I think your line is something like “I still need you, you keep me grounded.”
Anyway, I haven’t had another dialog with her since then and I’m almost done with ...

As I understand it, dispel magic can work on any spell. It’s just that it doesn’t have a 100% chance of doing so. IIRC, it’s a contest of levels between you (the person dispelling) and the opposing mage who cast the spell. If you are both equal level, then you have a 50% chance to dispel. I’m not ...

Inquisitors too powerful?
Do you think Inquisitors make the game too easy due to their insanely powerful dispel ability?
My answer: yes!
I’ve been playing through ToB with my Keldorn party and I began to realize something. I don’t even bother to buff my party before fights anymore! Keldorn is 22nd level now which puts his ...

I am very tempted to play a kensai/mage. As soon as I read the kensai kit description, mage popped into my head. I actually have brought my Fighter into BG2 and played him as a kensai for a little bit. They do kick major butt. He was killing most mobs before Minsc or Jaheira even scored a hit. But ...

Ahh, so the good NPCs will pick on Viconia untill she leaves? Bummer. Maybe I will ditch her and go with a Fighter dualed to Cleric. Still, she has some good stats and I'm sure her MR is nice. I would rather ditch Aerie than Vic, so if Aerie is the only character that can't work with Vic, then I'll ...

Your right about Keldorn, I think he'll be pretty decient with some dex gauntlets so I probably will keep him (and not bring in my BG1 Pally). What's wrong with Minsc though? He has a 16 dex and con and a good str, which is all you really need of a fighter type, plus he has 2 points in dual wield ...

Wow, those were some quick replies http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/smile.gif
Actually, I kinda wanted to try to keep Viconia this time. I chose Branwen over Vic in BG1 so I thought I would try her this time. I know I'll have to keep my rep below 18 (assuming BG2 is like BG1) to keep her, which may ...

Hmm, which class should I choose
I’m having major trouble deciding what character class to play as my main. I haven’t really played the game beyond the first chapter. I figured it would be better to read up on what NPCs are available and try to get and idea of how they would fit best into a party.
Well, after reading up on the ...
