Mount & Blade: Warband Reviews

Quite a few new reviews for TaleWorlds' Mount & Blade: Warband are now available, so I suppose it's time for one of my usual round-ups.

GameSpot gives it a 7.5/10:
Even if you don't bother with the single-player campaign, Warband is worth the buy for the outstanding multiplayer alone. The combat is addictive and exciting, with a good number of people crowding onto the servers. While the core of Mount & Blade is still relatively primitive due to its underdeveloped solo campaign and a few limitations with graphics, there is a lot of charm here. The simple fun of smashing skulls with a pike and charging into a gang of enemies atop a fine Arab charger really makes this game stand out in a world of cookie-cutter RPGs.

Gamer Limit gives it an 8.0/10:
Mount & Blade: Warband is a fantastic game that deserves at least a look from every gamer. It is an ambitious project that offers a unique style of play that is unseen in modern games. If you haven't checked out the original Mount & Blade, go ahead and skip it. Just pick up Warband and you'll have a great time.

Computer Games Romania gives it an 85/100:
Nevertheless, Mount & Blade: Warband is not a single-player title and the campaign is nothing more than a bonus for when your Internet connection isn't working. Otherwise, you will find yourself again connected to the official servers, slashing and hacking opponents from all-over the civilized worlds, cursing for being unhorsed or jumping with fear at the sound of an arrow. And I for one am not ashamed to steal some more vitamins in order to survive another siege tonight.

NXT Gamer gives it an 8.5/10:
Overall the game is quite a breath of fresh air compared to other games that are being released at the moment. Having the free reign that you do in the single player is very fun as you lead your men to battle or plot political acts to dethrone a king or gain support to become a king yourself. Mount & Blade: Warband is a huge improvement over the first, and if not for a few hindrances the game would be almost perfect. The next game needs to improve the graphics and sound dramatically as the gameplay is already superb and the game could go mainstream and be a popular AAA title that I hope all PC gamers would enjoy. I recommend this game to any gamer who loves the medieval era and wants to ride into battle to kill all that oppose you.

Alltern8 gives it an 8/10:
Mount & Blade Warband has amazing potential as an incredibly strong multiplayer combat title and is already showing itself to be one of the best single player experiences you'll have this year. It's varied, replayable, challenging, rewarding and best of all it's incredibly fun to play. If you can get over a few minor hiccups and immerse yourself despite the poor graphics, I can guarantee with 100% certainty that you won't be playing anything else for quite some time.
