Mass Effect 2 Interviews

There's even more Mass Effect 2 coverage to indulge in this week, including a video interview with Ray Muzyka on GameTrailers and a Q&A with Christina Norman about the infiltrator class on IGN. From the latter:
IGN: How many paths of specialization can the Infiltrator take?

Christina Norman: There are so many possible infiltrator builds! You have six powers, and on a normal Mass Effect 2 playthrough you'll only be able to max out 2 or 3 of these powers. Whenever you max a power, it evolves, giving you the choice between two more powerful variants. This adds up to a huge number of potential infiltrator builds.

If you max out your class talent, Operative, you can choose either Assassin or Agent specialization. If you're more damage focused you'll want to become an Assassin, receiving an always-on boost to your weapon and power damage. More strategic players will choose Agent for boosts to power recharge and duration, and a improved negotiation ability.

If you max Tactical Cloak you can choose between Assassination Cloak and Enhanced Cloak. If you're a damage focused player you'll want to take Assassination Cloak for an additional damage boost while cloaked. Players who prefer to use cloak tactically or defensively will want to take Enhanced Cloak for a longer stealth duration.

There are obvious synergies to matching Assassin with Assassination Cloak, to become a damage king, or match Agent with Enhanced Cloak and you greatly increase the amount of time you can be cloaked in combat.

This only covers two of six possible specialization areas though. Specialize in AI hack and you can convert enemy synthetics to your side, drawing fire away from you and your allies. Specialize in incinerate and you'll gain a powerful secondary direct damage capabilities. Invest in ammo powers like cryo ammo and disruptor ammo, which only need to be able to cast once per mission, and you'll be able to benefit from them continually while you use active powers like incinerate and cloak.
