Fort Zombie Q&A

Neoseeker had the opportunity to sit down with Kerberos Productions' Chris Stewart and Martin Cirulis for a face-to-face Q&A about their newly released action RPG, Fort Zombie.
Neo: With RPG elements under the hood, what sort of character-generation can you go through at the start of the game? How about different abilities to choose from?

Martin: It's one level up from the full RPG of North Star with 10 stats and dozens of skills. Fort Zombie has five stats (Smarts, Power, Speed, Finesse, Toughness) and about a dozen skills. Creating your 'Ben Riley' starts by picking from a list of templates; soldier, trucker, doctor, student, etc, and modifying their stats and skills to suit you.

Neo: What kind of leveling-up can you do as the game unfolds? Also, what will earn you the most xp - killing zombies, rescuing survivors, gathering supplies, or something else?

Martin: You learn by doing. There's not enough time to go "It's D&D, I'm level 15!" and go off and train. Instead, at the end of the day, the system assigns you points based on the skills you used and how well you did. These are tracked by Ben's end of the day diary entries so you can see how he's improving.
