Overlord II Reviews

Despite the fact that it was a holiday weekend for those of us in the USA, several more websites have published Overlord II reviews.

The Electric Playground gives it a 7.5/10:
Overlord II offers quite a few improvements and new features to toy with, like the choice to enslave or destroy everyone in your path. There are new powers, such as the ability to possess your minions, and the game has all the hilarity that made the first game so much fun. I love how it presents an elf as a hippie activist. Unfortunately other problems still crop up: the camera control system can be awfully wild, and missions are long and often without enough story guidance. However, there's still lots of satisfaction to sweeping into a village with your gibbering forces, smashing all their stuff and possessing the minds of everyone in reach.

Xbox360Achievements gives it a 76/100:
While not a vast improvement over the original, the gameplay and story are still solid and provide plenty of fun moments. Sadly the dubious multiplayer has come along for the ride yet again and it just does not seem as fresh as the first game did. I would urge you to give it a go, but considering how cheap the original is by now, you will probably pay over the odds for what is basically more of the same.

Wonderwallweb gives it a 7.0/10:
Overlord II definitely feels more action orientated than the previous game, though there is a downside to this in that although you can backtrack and explore, once you have taken care of the enemies there are no real surprises left, perhaps it would have been better if the game threw in a few obstacles in your way when you backtrack, however it doesn't and therefore if you are easily bored by a lack of action then there is no real incentive to covering old ground.

Cheat Happens gives it an 8/10:
Those that give Overlord II a chance will find a lot to like here. It's funny, chaotic and addicting, but at the same time its glitchy, mechanically flawed and somehow feels unfinished in some places. For those that loved the original, you're going to find more of the same gameplay here, but Overlord II will do little to sway the opinion of those who didn't dig the original.

Tech2 gives it a 3.5/5:
So yes Overlord II is a lot like Overlord; only this time developer Triumph studios has injected it with a good amount of variety. It can get repetitive after a while so I suggest you play it in short bursts. It has a few multiplayer modes (that I sadly didn't get to try out) and the single player itself is pretty lengthy so you're looking at sinking 15 20 hours into it, especially if you end up doing all the side quests as well. Even if you didn't much care for the first game, I suggest you give it a shot while if you're new to the series, I'd definitely recommend it. I mean how does killing baby seals using gremlins not sound like fun?

Console Monster gives it an 80%:
To conclude, Overlord 2 is a worthy sequel which almost definitely improves on its predecessor. The game's very long, yet enjoyable campaign overcomes the rather weak multiplayer. If you're looking for something to play during the summer drought, Overlord 2 is certainly a title to consider.

And Impuse Gamer gives it a 7.5/10:
The Overlord can deal out destruction, death and hurt using several different types of weapons and armor that become available over the course of the game. Oh and if all that was not cool enough, there is magic to be released onto your enemies. The magic spells that are used can aid the minions, or cause an enemy all amounts of trouble.
