Fallout 3 Point Lookout DLC Reviews

IGN, GameSpy, and Gaming Nexus join the list of websites that have reviewed Bethesda's latest DLC for Fallout 3.

IGN gives it an 8.5/10:
Point Lookout is one of the better Fallout 3 expansions and feels well worth the $10 price tag. There's a brand new area with over a half dozen trippy and exciting missions to find and work through. Plus, there are inbred hillbillies. If you're still looking for more Fallout 3, definitely give Point Lookout a try.

GameSpy gives it a 4.5/5:
Perhaps the greatest praise I can heap upon Point Lookout is that it doesn't feel tacked-on but more like a natural extension of everything that makes the new Fallout what it is. You have plenty of unexplored territory to wade through, and the new swamp environment and the accompanying weather effects make doing so feel fresh and exciting. The quest lines and exploration gameplay feel very Fallout, and you'll want to walk through every inch of the map to make sure you don't miss out on the many different landmarks tucked away in its farthest reaches. The battles can be quite challenging, and there's plenty of creative, genuinely funny stuff here that'll have as much of an impact as the greatest bits from the original game.

If you're a Fallout 3 fan then this one's a no-brainer. Highly recommended.

And Gaming Nexus gives it a "B":
What Point Lookout has going for it is a unique location and a different setting. The enemies are tougher and the swamp areas are done well. While the items aren't going to be that interesting for folks in the higher levels, those around 17 and up should get some nice useful items out of the deal as well as finding some great challenges to deal with in fighting tribal folks, inbred monsters, and swamplurks. There's a good solid 3 hours of the main quest and another few hours for the side quests as well. You're also welcome to travel back and forth from Point Break to the Capital Wasteland during and after the end of the main quest so there's that benefit of revisitation. It's not as good as Broken Steel in my opinion but it is about the same as the Pitt for me in terms of how much I liked it. A solid DLC, I'm eagerly awaiting the next one titled Mothership Zeta. But for now, Point Break's a good departure into an area not inhabited by mutants and Raiders while offering up some good challenges even for seasoned characters.
