Puzzle Quest: Galactrix Reviews

Yet another handful of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix reviews are now available, most of which hover around the same score.

The first is at Gamer 2.0 with a score of 8/10:
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix definitely gives off a bad first impression that those persistent enough will find the same addictive qualities that the original Puzzle Quest had in spades. One simple change in the approach to the hacking minigame could've changed the way the entire game feels, from a repetitive disappointment into a worthy successor. Galactrix may be a bit much to pay for an XBLA game at $20, or 1600 points, but those that do pay for the game will likely try to get past the early rough patch to make sure they get their money's worth out of the game. It's best to just play the demo to see if the new tweaks to the combat interest you enough to jump in for the entire game as a whole.

The second is at GameZone with a score of 8.0/10:
Galactrix is the type of game that is simple enough in its gameplay to be accessible to the casual gamer while at the same time having enough depth to keep the hardcore gamer interested. The abundance of puzzle solving and fantasy RPG gameplay makes this game unique enough for it to stand apart from the plethora of other puzzle games out there. In the end Galactrix provides many hours of gameplay and whether you're looking for a game to just pick up and play or if you want to spend several hours with a high-quality RPG game, at its rather steep price of 1600 Microsoft Space Bucks, the game is definitely worth it.

The third is at Strategy Informer with a score of 7.9/10:
Still, the aforementioned niggles are just a minor affair, and as long as you haven't smoked yourself into a stupor I'm sure the teething issues won't irritate for too long. You really must try Puzzle Quest: Galactrix as it is one of the best games I've played all year. It really is that good. However, whether it is 1600 MS Points good is the real issue isn't it? I've been a harsh critic of some of the pricing in the past (see R-Type review) but in this case I'd say it's justified. The game is huge, it's huge and sexy. I've spent hours and hours in its company and am a fraction through the main game. Do yourself a favor and check it out. You seriously won't regret it.

And the fourth is at That VideoGame Blog with no score:
By attempting to build upon Warlords rather than refine it, Infinite Interactive have forgotten just what it was that made their game fun in the first place. Unfortunately, all the major changes here are for the worse. The result is a watered down Puzzle Quest experience that, for those with the time and patience to invest, offers masses of content and a whole ton of strategic options, but just isn't as entertaining as it should have been. While it is often said that Warlords stole away hours and hours of gamers' lives, time spent with Galactrix feels more like robbery, and at a hefty 1600 Microsoft Points we mean that all too literally.
