Elven Legacy Reviews

It's time to round up a few more reviews of Paradox Interactive and 1C:Ino-Co's turn-based strategy/RPG crossbreed, Elven Legacy.

The first is at GameSpot with a score of 7.5/10:
Elven Legacy is a sure bet for fans of the fantasy wargame subgenre, but they're not the only ones who will appreciate its charms. Fans of more traditional wargames can appreciate it as a fun fantasy diversion, and new players will find it simple to learn and enjoy. If you are new to the genre, Elven Legacy is a great choice for an entry-level wargame. With its simple yet tactically robust combat options, its antihero protagonist, and its cutthroat multiplayer, Elven Legacy could easily become your "gateway game" to more sophisticated wargames.

The second is at GDN with a score of 6.0/10:
Personally this game isn't something that I would want to pick up and play again and again because it just wasn't engrossing enough. I felt the storyline didn't entice me to want to contine playing and see where I was going to end up next. Though the battle tactics differed and challenged me it just wasn't enough and I couldn't quite manage to squeeze much enjoyment from it. Sorry guys at 1c but if you manage to break any new ground rather than disguising another turn based game in a shiny exterior I will be very interested to know what you've produced.

And the third is at GameZone with a score of 7.0/10:
All in all, Elven Legacy is a decent turn-based strategy title that offers some good entertainment, especially given the dearth of new TBS titles out right now. It is similar in many aspects to HOMM, but it isn't in the same league. However, it does offer some good strategic depth and plenty of missions. The main problem is the unfairness of the AI and the winning requirements of the missions. Having to restart over and over again isn't any fun at all. Elven Legacy is best suited to hard-core turn-based strategy fans, despite the misleading easy interface and simple menu system.
