PCWorld's Matt Peckham (of Neverwinter Nights 2 review fame) has pointed out that Wikipedia features a list of dozens of commercial PC games that are now freeware. The list includes links to Richard Garriott's Akalabeth, SSI's Dark Sun: Shattered Lands and Wake of the Ravager, and many others, so it might be worth saving as a favorite in case any other RPGs are added at a later date.

Of course, if you've previously spent time surfing the web's various abandonware websites, then you may already have these games sitting on your hard drive. But now you know that they're 100% legal, anyway.
