RPG Vault Focus: Games Convention, Part Two

RPG Vault brings us a second installment to their roundtable discussion with various RPG developers who attended this year's Leipzig Games Convention. The Witcher's Jacek Brzezinski:
A sizeable group of us went to GC this year simply because the event was scheduled shortly before the release of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, and we really wanted to show off the improved and expanded version of our game. To our delight, a lot of people were interested, so most of us had loads to do and had little time to spend seeing what else was being shown. I was one of the lucky few whose presence at our stand wasn't essential the entire time, so I was able to spend Saturday roaming around.

This year was the largest to date. And that was most visible on Saturday - the crowds were amazing. In my opinion, the hit of the show was LittleBigPlanet, an incredibly cool game that's just a plain joy to play. Its blend of console playability, player creativity, multi-player mode and simply entertaining and good graphics is hard not to fall in love with. We'll see how it does with players, but it's hard not to agree with the claim that playing it is all the more pleasant for the simple reason that it's not a finished product in and of itself, and players will have an opportunity to contribute to it.

Apart from that, I found few things at the show that immediately struck me as groundbreaking. A few that are worth mentioning include Killzone for its great graphics, Mirror's Edge for what looks to be a successful attempt at doing something new with the FPS genre, Silent Hill Homecoming for the unique mood of the series, and GH World Tour for the pure fun of playing it.
