Dungeons & Dragons Online Module 7 Previews

Ten Ton Hammer and MMORPG.com have each put together hands-on previews of Turbine's upcoming Module 7: The Way of the Monk update for Dungeons & Dragons Online. An excerpt from TTH's article:
The creatures found in the Way of The Monk are neat. The living spells are great, and pretty much any of the spells you most use are now alive. and hostile. Make sure you bring your healing, your going to want to have it. They hurt, and there are going to be some very painful moments ahead for the brave adventurers of Stormreach. You will love them anyways, but they will be painful. The devils are truly scary, and you are going to need to stock up on the appropriate weapons for fighting them. Be truly afraid of the devils you will see in module 7.

There are other creatures. In one raid there are tiny (but dangerous) beholder-kin, there are more of the deadly rats and bats you have seen in previous modules and other creatures I won't mention. The Sahuagin previously mentioned are great too.

And a snip from MMORPG's article:
DDO's Monks are quite honestly a treat to sit down and watch. Their movements have been specially animated to give the feel that you're dealing with a serious martial artist. I was glad to see that the developers put so much time into the look of the new class. It grants these fist-wielding warriors a certain level of (cool) that I'm not sure they would have had if they had been released at launch.

In deciding how to implement the monk into the game, the team at Turbine looked beyond the regular source material (the Player's Handbook) and delved into the Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition (Oriental Adventures) sourcebook to find extra abilities for the new class. Given that monks can't use gear in the same ways as other characters (Monks get a very limited weapon and armor selection), something had to be found to allow them to be unique and interesting for players.

And, for good measure, Turbine has released a new wallpaper to celebrate the update's impending release.
