Most Anticipated RPGs of 2008

TeamXbox has made a list of their most anticipated RPGs of 2008. Two titles of interest:
Fable 2

Brent: Nobody has ever questioned the creative mind of Peter Molyneux nor the talented team of designers at Lionhead Studios, but many felt that, while Fable was a fantastic RPG, it fell a bit short of many of the promises made by Molyneux and his studio. Much of what limited Fable's potential had more to do with the hardware restrictions of the original Xbox rather than anything to do with Lionhead's imagination. Now that the studio has been hard at work on Fable 2, we've already seen enough to prove that the power of the Xbox 360 is definitely giving the sequel much more room to grow than was possible before.

Once again, players will be able develop their characters as they see fit, whether by becoming a well-known and liked hero or a dark and feared villain. Molyneux has been telling us that Fable 2 will feature a few significant changes from the first game that will affect the gameplay. The first is the introduction of a canine companion that will loyally follow your direction and commands. The combat system has also been revamped in order to boost the level of action infused with the game's RPG roots.

The Xbox 360 should help Lionhead better realize its ambitions, enabling Fable 2 to be an even more open-ended, immersive, action-ridden RPG and a game that will more than likely turn out to be one of the best RPGs of 2008.

Fallout 3

Andy: Many figured that, when game publisher Interplay all but fell off the map, a lot of its notable game franchises would drop into limbo or maybe never been seen again. That's why it was such a blast (pun intended) for Bethesda Softworks to announce that it was putting out a sequel to the post-apocalyptic Fallout series.

From what we've been shown, your Fallout 3 adventure will begin in Vault 101, where your character was born and where you're expected to die. However, the action picks up after a departure from the vault, and your fragile little existence gets much more complicated and dangerous.

We're also expecting that Fallout 3 will have hybrid gameplay elements, such as combat that resembles a first-person shooter though with more intricacies and nuances. And the little bits we've seen reveal character dialogue that could actually be as entertaining as the gameplay. Imagine, a smart, sassy and challenging RPG.
