Oblivion: Fighter's Stronghold Reviews

If you missed the free week of the oblivion DLC Fighter's Stronghold and are now wondering if it's worth a purchase, two sites have gone to effort of reviewing the fairly small expansion. Barry's Rigs and Reviews gives it an 8 in a pretty expansive and detailed review, noting it has no bang but is worth the download for the faithful.
So what happens after you've purchased everything? Well, the Fighter's Stronghold DLC is just a house add-on, albeit the most elaborate one that Bethesda has released to date. You'll find three skill books that are also interesting reads. A day after you've bought everything for the castle, Lord Kelvyn's Chest will appear at the foot of your bed containing Lord Kelvyn's Bulwark a steel shield bearing the castle's coat-of-arms with leveled Fortify Health, Endurance and Block enchantments. Nilphas Omellia becomes another Imperial City merchant you can trade with on a regular basis. Your staff performs their daily routines and honors your usual requests. Now that your new domicile is revitalized and up to full military strength, the word is out that there's a new sheriff in town (or more accurately, in the castle) who's a hell of lot tougher and meaner than the old one. So that army of marauders who were so intent on overrunning and seizing Battlehorn Castle have wised-up and gone back to robbing and terrorizing hapless travelers along Cyrodiil's roads and being the Imperial Legion's problem. Other than that, it's business as usual for your hero or heroine.
Video Game Generation is shorter with an 8.5, their bottom line:
While the premise behind this quest seems a little overstated and, frankly, disappointing, the rewards you get in the end make it worth the money and time to download and complete it, even if you don't get the satisfaction of an epic battle. For more advanced players, the castle itself may not seem as swanky as some of the other in-game houses, but it is rather large and exploration yields some nice leveled items. For newer players, it still may not be very challenging, but in the end you do get a place to hang your hat, and without all of the runaround required for some of the other houses in the game. Veteran or newcomer, there's a lot to be gained for everyone, including some lavish trophies and a gaggle of various servants. In the end, it may not be as big or grand as some other content, but Fighter's Stronghold is still a fine end to Oblivion's long run.
