King's Bounty: The Legend Interview

RPG Vault has published a two-page Q&A with Katauri Interactive's Dmitri Gusarov and Ivan Magazinnikov about King's Bounty: The Legend. The first question gives a good introduction to the remake:
Q: To get the interview started, what are the basics we should know about King's Bounty: The Legend? What type of game will it be? What audience and ship date are you targeting?

A: King's Bounty: The Legend is a role-playing game with turn-based tactical combat. The main hero explores the world in real-time mode. His character reveals as he improves skills, communicates with NPCs and accomplishes quests - just like in any other classical RPG. Speaking about the adventures, this game is a bit like Fallout. The player has the opportunity to travel around the world, deal with different characters, gather various resources and develop his skills.

When an encounter with an enemy occurs, the game becomes similar to Heroes of Might and Magic and even more similar to its ancestor, King's Bounty, with action points. The turn-based battles are held in special arenas.

The target audience for King's Bounty: The Legend includes all fans of role-playing and tactical games. There are some similar games on consoles - for example, Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy - but unfortunately, such titles are very rare on PC. Therefore, we'll try to fill this gap. We feel multiplayer mode doesn't always match well with role-playing games, so we decided to concentrate on the single-player campaign. We plan to release the game in Q1 2008.

I definitely disagree that multiplayer doesn't "match well" with role-playing games, though. Having a multiplayer component is essential to MMORPGs and action RPGs, and has added a lot of entertainment value (for me, anyway) to RPGs like Dungeon Lords and Neverwinter Nights.
