Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Reviews

Three more websites have tossed up new reviews for Sigil Games' recently launched MMORPG, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. The first is at GamerNode with an overall score of 7.6/10:
As it stands at this moment, the score I would give Vanguard is reflected in the final score (if I were to base my score of Vanguard on future potential, I would easily give it in the 8.5-9 range). The game is fun and has some high points, but the huge time commitment required really hurts it and will eventually hamper the community greatly. The robust three sphere system and abundance of fun classes would have been enough to satisfy most hardcore gamers. Even simple tweaks such as providing "casual" and "hardcore" servers where XP rates are tweaked would help. Making it take that long to level up or accomplish anything satisfying is really just alienating an ever growing casual gaming player base, which most MMOs will need to survive these days. While Brad McQuaid has stated that Vanguard has plans laid out for many years, it will be interesting to see if it can sustain the player base required to keep such an ambitious title running three or four years from now, especially with a few huge license-based MMOs coming out these next two years.

The second is at GameZone with an overall score of 7.8/10:
Vanguard is very much a work in progress. Count the pros to this game the way they dev team made each race feel a bit unique. The combat is also a strong element. The cons would be the way death is handled. Counter that with the relaxed cost of getting a mount and buying a home. There is a lot this game does right and a few things that are done wrong. This game will be worth revisiting in a year to see what progress has been made and how it has evolved.

And the third is at Game Revolution with an overall score of "C+":
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes might be a far better game in a few months time, but coming from the company that questionably destroyed one of its most popular MMOs (Star Wars Galaxies), nothing is guaranteed. If you're looking for an extended tour of nerd duty, and don't mind it being very much a work in progress, you could give Vanguard a shot, but don't cry to us when you're stuck in a tree fighting an invisible wolf, naked, with nothing but a deck of talking cards.
