Vanguard: Saga of Heroes Interview

GameSpy had the chance to chat with Sigil Games' Jeff Butler about their newly released MMORPG, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes.
Q: So, what's next? Are you guys planning to have patches coming out or are you going to do like an expansion down the road? Can you give us an idea of the architecture of your planning?

A: We haven't nailed down an exact time frame, so we're going to go with "regular live updates." We're going to be talking a lot through our game updates page - hopefully more than other developers have talked in the past - about the state of the game: Here's Vanguard today, here's what we know is wrong with it and it's getting worked on. If we know when the fix is coming, then you know. As honest as we possibly can be, but not to the point of outright speculation about what you might see in the future. Like, "Brad and I were talking today about how cool it would be for us to ride on a zeppelin." [note: Jeff switched into a funny voice when quoting himself] We're not going to that depth, but as close and as practical as we can get to letting you know what we're thinking about.

One of the most important things to us is to prove out that time spent in Vanguard is more important than time spent in other games. Because, I'm tight on time - I'm trying to level a character up to level 70 in World of Warcraft, and I've got more level 60s that need to be leveled up than you could imagine. And I can't divide my time up between multiple MMOs very effectively, there's just too much stuff going on. So, I want to know what I'm getting for my time investment to be worth something.
