Q: Is it possible to respec tradeskills? I read on herald some time ago about the possibility of wiping a tradeskill line and starting fresh on another, but I'm not sure if it was an idea that was thrown out and under development or it already exists.
A: There are NPCs that let you switch out of one of the (original) tradeskills into spellcrafting or alchemy. (Those two trades did not exist at launch; we put in the NPCs so people who might prefer the new to the old would not be limited.) However, the content team reminds me that this issue is about to be moot, as we are going to be removing what was lovingly called (crafter interdependency) SoonTM. Everyone can be everything, in the near future.
I'm glad, myself. In my always-humble opinion, it was one of those things that was supposed to (create community,) but it was actually just stupid and annoying. The crafter community creates itself by coming together in a common space, among other ways.
However! As with all things for which there are no patch notes, I do not know if this'll make 1.87. So, in the meantime, if you want to switch to spellcrafting or alchemy:
