Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows Reviews

The first two reviews for Midway's Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows are now online, but neither one sounds too promising. The first is over at GameSpot with an overall score of 5.2/10:
Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows is an attempt to revive an old game, but instead it just seems really old itself. Those looking for some good hack-and-slash action could find a much better, deeper, more memorable experience in countless other games out there. And if you consider yourself a fan of Gauntlet, move along, there's nothing to see here. Playing through Seven Sorrows is no trip down memory lane, since this spin-off really shares only the simplistic structure with the arcade original.

And the second is at Yahoo! Games with an overall score of 2/5:
Ultimately, Seven Sorrows is more of a tech demo than a solid game. The engine is pretty and the characters look great, but it's sorely lacking in the gameplay department. Straddling the line between classic Gauntlet and action-RPG, it hits neither target. Hardcore Gauntlet fans are better off with Dark Legacy, which is saying something, considering that game was mediocre at best. To paraphrase Gauntlet's infamous announcer: "Seven Sorrows needs help... badly!"
