BioWare/Pandemic Interview

1Up has conducted an interview with BioWare's Greg Zeschuk and Pandemic Studios' Andrew Goldman, quizzing the joint-CEOs about their newly announced partnership between the two game development studios. Check it out:
Q: So, what's the deal, exactly?

Zeschuk: We are both strongly independent, And we've talked in the past about ways to cultivate, ways we could pursue [a partnership]...but we were always too busy working on our own projects. That's when Elevation Partners came into the picture and became the catalyst. The short story is that what's been formed is essentially what will be a new type of developer. Bioware and Pandemic are working together under a common umbrella. We're still going to continue our independent nature, but we are going to start working together. We're going to come together and create this new kind of company that will help preserve our independence and also allows us to work together - it's the best of both worlds.

Goldman: Effectively Bioware and Pandemic are two studios, and they remain separate and true to their heritage. Bioware will continue to make the best RPGs out there, and Pandemic will continue to focus on action/adventure games. What will start to flow between the two companies is really the collective experiences, how we can each make our separate projects better. Yes, we're one company, but we're still two distinct brands that will serve up the best games to our fans.
