Guild Wars Interviews

IGN PC has published two new interviews for ArenaNet's Guild Wars - one with skill designer Isaiah Cartwright and another with lead designer James Phinney. A snip from the latter:
Q: The issue of unlocking all skills has been rather controversial. What is your take on this issue?

A: I can certainly appreciate why it is that people bring up the idea of an Unlock All Skills button. Given access to a large number of skills, Guild Wars becomes a very strategically rich experience. My belief is that this richness should be available to all players, however, not just those who would want UAS. That means two things: First, Guild Wars is an RPG, and character development, sometimes in the form of item and skill acquisition, will always be a major part of that. Second, the rate of progression in Guild Wars should be much, much faster in both PvP and cooperative play. With that in mind, we have many exciting new changes coming soon that will help speed things up no matter how you like to play Guild Wars. Of course, once these changes are in, we will continue to monitor and adjust the game whenever we see an opportunity to make improvements. Guild Wars is very much a labor of love for everyone on the team, and we'd like to continue to improve the game for everyone who plays it.
