Star Wars Galaxies Interview

GamerGod has conducted an interview with LucasArts' Julio Torres, in which the associate producer answers several questions about Star Wars Galaxies and its two expansions. A little something to start you off:
Q: The combat upgrade was designed to "even the playing field" for all the professions. The creature handler before the CU was a very unbalanced, overpowered profession. There was a real need to adjust it so it could coexist in harmony with the other professions. We understand that the profession changes may require small tweaks as the game evolves, so we will be watching this profession -- as well as all the others -- with this in mind.

A: I realize there are still Professions that need a little work, but overall with JTL, CU, Rage of the Wookiees and multi-passenger vehicles I feel the game is achieving a high level of "Star Warsy-ness". The one glaring area that needs to be addressed in the Star Warsy area of the game is droids. Droids in the game rarely match droids in the movie as far as what they are capable of. Granted Astromechs work in ships and that part is getting there, but are we going to see the development of droids to be more like their movie counterparts? Some things off the top of my head would be to make quests from Jawas and Ewoks that you need a protocol droid to receive, or locked doors in dungeons where you need an astromech to plug into the computer to figure things out. Is there any chance of a major droid overhaul in the future, and ideas like these being implemented? Perhaps some tougher combat droids now that the CU has made the game more challenging?
