Large Batch of Dungeon Lords Reviews

A half dozen new reviews for DreamCatcher and Heuristic Park's Dungeon Lords hit the web over the past couple of days. The first is at BonusStage with an overall score of 7.5/10:
There are a couple of pesky bugs in Dungeon Lords that a patch released soon after the game shipped help fix (download the patch from the Dungeon Lords official website here). It'll be interesting to see if any future patches or perhaps even player mods pop up that rectify some of the game's other issues, as this is one of those almost great games that hooks you in from the start and absolutely begs for a deeper, more complex follow-up. I'd score it a point higher (7.5) just because it does more stuff right than it does wrong, but like some of the tougher monsters in the game, you'll want to approach this one carefully and with an open mind.

The second is at WorthPlaying with an overall score of 6.4/10:
In its present state, I can only recommend Dungeon Lords to RPG enthusiasts looking for a dungeon crawler with an emphasis on level building and item collecting who don't mind drawing up their own maps as they go (because you'll need them). Hopefully, Heuristic Park will release another patch that adds the automap and character creation options that weren't delivered in the box. Until then, I'd recommend this one only to fans of the genre.

The third is at GamePlasma with an overall score of 5.8/10:
I would recommend Dungeon Lords to hardcore RPG fans such as myself, however, everyone else should steer clear of this game. For those patient enough to sit through its abundance of problems, Dungeon Lords has many hours of hack-n-slash fun to offer. Dungeon Lords is definitely no Morrowind, but kind of like a short, retarded cousin.

The fourth is at Skewed and Reviewed with an overall score of 3.5/5:
While not perfect, there are enough good moments in game to delight fans of the RPG genre, if you can just overlook a few bugs.

The fifth is at PC Gameworld with an overall score of 40%:
At the end of the day Dungeon Lords doesn't measure up. What started as a good concept on paper has become a frustrating and repetitive chore which is very sad because underneath it all is a good game. The developer does promise to fix all the problems but it might be too little too late. If you're still yearning to play Dungeon Lords or want a good dungeon crawl then wait until the inevitable flood of patches are released or buy yourself a copy of Morrowind and Diablo II.

And the sixth is at Game Chronicles Magazine with an overall score of 4/10:
You may wonder how I can rank the overall score a 4 when the individual component scores are clearly better than that. That's because this game isn't complete, and so neither is my score. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this game to anyone except the most desperate action/RPG'er who has extreme patience for software that doesn't work very well. Heuristic Park has said a 1.2 patch is in the works and hopefully one beyond that. At some point, if they keep working on it, I might can go back and re-review the game and give it a final score post-patches.
