Jade Empire Reviews

Three new reviews have popped up for BioWare's Xbox RPG set in a mythical version of China, Jade Empire. The first is at Gamecell with an overall score of 8/10:
At the end of the day though, you should buy this game for the story and to enjoy the journey and interaction with the characters. On that point, the game isn't far from flawlessness. The combat is hugely disappointing though I just can't see how something with this quality of production ended up with such a weak portion of the game. Maybe there is a future in it somewhere and it just needs some more work, but it certainly wouldn't put me off buying another BioWare game.

The second is at MSNBC:
As the story progresses, we learn that a civilization founded on a balance between nature and the spirit world has been plunged into discord. A deity, responsible for both the people's water supply as well as the dead, has been killed by the emperor for in the hopes of a quick relief from a drought. Now water is in less supply and the dead walk the earth.

Biologists would call this crisis a world out of balance. As every role-playing game player knows, it's time to kick butt.

And the third is at GameBoyz with an overall score of 9.25:
Fans of RPGs will be dying (or killing) to get their hands on this exciting, involving and exceptional game, that may take your ability to speak or interact with other human beings away from you. Make sure you have plenty in your fridge before attempting to discover the wonders, highlights and the brilliance of Jade Empire.
