Jade Empire Reviews

A handful of positive reviews for BioWare's martial arts RPG made their way to the web over the past weekend. The first is at GamersInfo.net with no overall score:
Jade Empire is a very solid RPG title. It has succeeded in delivering an engaging and epic story, open-ended gameplay and, most importantly, fun. While it does take a little while to get going and is very slow and tiresome in parts, it is still an excellent title. RPG fans should not hesitate at all at picking this up. If you're looking for something that's a little more cerebral then a mindless shooter, then you won't want to miss this one.

The second is at Videogame Talk with an overall score of 5/5:
Jade Empire is the best game I've played in the last year and a half. Besides the load times, I really have trouble saying anything bad about it. The engaging story, fun characters, and beautiful graphics combine to form a truly original and memorable experience. I highly, highly recommend it.

The third is at Gamer's Hell with an overall score of 9.1/10:
Overall, Jade Empire is one of the best titles to hit the Xbox since its launch. Although it is more of an action game at heart with RPG elements as second though, BioWare have yet again created a true work of art. Sporting great FMVs, motion capturing, awesome graphics and an ever better sound department, the game will keep fans playing for well over 20 hours and then some. Albeit almost perfect, Jade Empire does have a few minor graphical flaws that hold it back from being perfect score, but it is still a title that should be experienced by all with an Xbox nonetheless.

The fourth is at PALGN Xbox with an overall score of 9.0/10:
Jade Empire really is an amazing action RPG. After a few disappointments with recent RPG's we're glad that Jade Empire has not only lived up to the hype, but surpassed it. Do yourself a favour, buy this game and become involved with the incredible storyline and the sensational combat system, there will be no regrets.

And the fifth is at Xbox Evolved with an overall score of 9/10:
It would be easy to say that Jade Empire is just (KOTOR) in ancient China with stripped down mechanics and a more action-oriented combat system. The sad fact is, if I had to describe the game to someone in one sentence that is what I would have to say. Despite the game's many shortcomings though, it is still a very entertaining title that I would definitely recommend to anybody who are into role-playing titles, or anyone who wants to know what American role-playing titles are all about. With its rich story, inventive surroundings and characters, there is definitely just enough depth to keep you coming at least one or two more times after completing it once.
