Tactica Online Interview, Part One

RPG Vault has published the first installment to a new interview with Imaginary Numbers CEO and creative director Luke Carruthers, in which they discuss the upcoming turn-based MMORPG, Tactica Online. A snippet:
Q: You mentioned one person making a difference in the world. Can you expand on that, and how this will play out in terms of a story element?

A: Story will play a large part in the game, not only in the sense that it gives the gameplay context, but because players have a large role in determining the future of the world.

Tactica Online takes place in an alternate Renaissance, where the magic of the time works, and technology is a little more advanced than it was in our world. Centered around the city of Tier, there are several different environments that missions take place in, including cities, wilderness, and underground areas, as well as specific missions set in other areas of the world that were significant at the time, such as the Holy Land and the Aztec Empire.

This Renaissance is much like our own, a simmering mix of conflicting beliefs that often bubble over. Tactica Online traces several threads of this conflict - the Knights Templar, supposedly destroyed 200 years ago because their wealth became threatening to kings, and maybe for darker reasons too; Leonardo da Vinci's employment by the Duke of Tier to create engines of war, though some say he has other reasons for being in the city; and the Inquisition's move beyond burning heretics in their quest to contain the Sciences.

How these threads connect is up to players.
