Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows Preview

UGO has put together a two-page preview of Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows, based on what they were shown at Midway's Winter's Game Day 2005. An excerpt to follow:
Combat has also been beefed up a bit with multiple weapons, a simplistic inventory system with armor and the like, and several attacks that can be used. We saw many examples of all four characters using unique attacks, hitting single enemies for lots of damage or multiple enemies for a little bit of damage. It seems that Seven Sorrows still needs a decent amount of work before it's released, though, as the combat seemed a bit disjointed and overall looked awkward. I think it's pretty safe to say this will be improved considerably in the next few months, as this is almost purely a hack and slash game; it seems pretty clear that you'll be spending a majority of time knee-deep in fighting.

One nice thing about the inventory system they showed off was that all four players can fool around with their gear at the same time, and it still only takes up about half of the screen around the edges; if three players are in their inventories, the fourth can still keep fighting without being impeded too much. We can reasonably assume as well that online gamers won't have to see their buddies' inventory screens, but that's not actually confirmed.
