Although most people believe they are (lesser demons,) ogres are in actuality a race of creatures who share the world with the citizens of the Jade Empire. While ogres are generally too dim-witted to understand the advanced technology and spirituality of the Empire, they are extremely good with their hands and have adapted human armor and weapons for their own use, adding to their massive size to make them dangerous opponents. As natural denizens of the physical world, they lack the strange motivations that drive demons, and so their attitudes are determined less by their race and more by their situation. While one ogre might terrorize farmers all over the countryside, another might work on such a farm, pulling plows and moving livestock. Years of being exploited by smarter beings have tainted the ogres, however, and most people are more likely to meet an ogre holding a sword than one holding a plowshare.
