Console Role-Playing Valhalla

The Adrenaline Vault is offering up a new four-page article called "Role-Playing Valhalla" that provides a recap of some of the greatest RPGs that have been released on the Xbox, PS2, and GameCube. Included in the discussion are titles such as Bethesda's Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and BioWare's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. An excerpt:
The third and final great triumph (Final Fantasy X and Kingdom Hearts being the first two) in the RPG resurgence was Bioware's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The venerable western development house reexamined the classic console RPG formula, and even introduced a few PC role-playing staples to an audience that had likely never experienced them before. KotOR's open-ended quests and real-time battles (meaning that there's no transition to a combat screen) obliterated perceived limitations on console role-players. The company was careful, however, not to mess with the tightly knit storyline or skill building systems that form the basis of the genre.
