Lineage 2 is, to my tastes, an addictive, fun and rewarding open-ended experience in a brutal, changing world. There is no instant gratification, with the exception of the occasional god-sent loot drop and the slow accumulation of adena. You start with a limited skill base, and until you hit certain key levels, you have to build up and deal with what you've got. Costs seem expensive at first, and keeping a pet may keep you from getting that fancy armor for a while. You can kill or be killed at any time, and getting to a point where you can even participate in a siege requires determination. It is not an easy ride, but it is a fun, enjoyable and rewarding one.
