Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich Interview

RPGVault has conducted an interview with Irrational Games' Ken Levine, asking the general manager and creative director three pages of questions about the upcoming Freedom Force sequel. Check it out:
Q: What kind of combat system will the game have, what improvements are you adding, and how will you balance all the different powers? And will there be other forms of gameplay like stealth or diplomacy?

A: Like the original, Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich uses real-time combat with the ability to pause the action, similar to way Baldur's Gate works. We plan on improving this by requiring less micro-management. Your team will now react to the action instead of just taking a beating while they're waiting for your commands.

Balancing a game with such a robust roster of characters is a huge challenge. The only way to do it, besides leveraging what you learned from the original game, is to test, test, test. It's a lot of difficult and precise work. While there will be stealth elements from time to time, we certainly don't have anything like diplomacy. We're trying to stick to the core elements of what made the original work.
