J.E. Sawyer Comments

Black Isle's J.E. Sawyer has provided a little feedback as to why he's leaving the game development company. The first amount of insight is available at GameSpot, where they've written up what facts are known along with a few comments from the man himself:
So what's next for Sawyer? Although there was some speculation that he would join other former Black Isle workers at Obsidian Entertainment, the designer told GameSpot he's taking some time off from the RPG industry. "I've been trying to work on hardcore PC RPGs for the past three years and it just hasn't been panning out," he said. "I need to try something else for the next few years before I dive back in."

The second is another couple of posts from J.E. in the Black Isle forums:
I haven't worked on any revolutionary games. It's even arguable that I haven't worked on any evolutionary games. Right now, though, I don't even know of any companies that are currently developing revolutionary or evolutionary CRPGs for PC. There may be some outside of the U.S., but it seems pretty dry around here.

There's no reason anyone should expect big things from me. If you play something great in the future and happen to notice my name in the credits, that's fine. If you never see my name again, why does it matter?
