Might & Magic IX Beta Review

CRPG.ru takes a mostly positive approach to their nicely done Hands-on Review of the Might & Magic IX Beta (in English, even though this is a Russian site). It's informative and will help anyone who is considering the purchase when the game releases in the next week. It comes with many new screenshots and reads something like this:

Looking around, I have decided to figure out the interface and found a curiosity - the interface resembles one in HOMM IV. This is best seen on the character's paper doll - the main focus is now on the doll itself while the items are drawn as small images to be placed in the slots surrounding the figure. Still, everything is very convenient despite the nostalgia for the old, large images. The benefit of this approach is evident - you no longer have to think about storing the items in your backpack in the most efficient manner. They are placed in a vertical storage space, much like Wizardry 8 and can be easily sorted to show weapons, armour, jewellery or quest items. Clicking the right mouse button still brings up the item's description - this has not changed at all.
