RPGVault has posted a Q&A with Bruce Everiss of Codemasters about the MMORPG they are currently developing called Dragon Empires. Here's a snippet:

    Q: If the system is level-based, what is being done to move us from the widely perceived 'leveling treadmill' that most games embrace?

    A: We have not been able to completely get rid of leveling. The progression system involves spending build points on skills in a non-linear way. Build points themselves are not earned just by killing monsters but also from other kinds of behaviors. The kinds of behavior needed to progress your character depend on what you start with and where you want to go. Also having built one kind of skill set you can migrate a character into other skill sets.
