Dungeons & Dragons Interview #3

Computer Games Online has posted their third Dungeons & Dragons interview, this time with Jonathan Tweet, creator of the 3rd Edition ruleset. Here's a taste:

What are the some of the differences between the 3rd Edition and previous versions of the game?

The biggest change is that the whole game now rests on key concepts of how the rules simulate reality. Dungeons & Dragons originally developed piecemeal, and its rules were a collection of different systems, no two of which were similar to each other. The dice you rolled to swing a sword were different from those you rolled to ride a horse were different from those you rolled to pick a lock, and so on. For 3rd Edition, we designed one system that works for almost everything, so that the rules feel less arbitrary and more natural.
