Of Ships, Seas, and Servers

Gamer asks about the possiblity of ships and area transitions:

In working up my world design, I found myself wondering if the initial release of NWN will have tiles/objects to support ships/sea type zones? If not, will there be enough room to work in tiles that I could have a sea-port with ships in the harbor even if they didn't do anything?

As for my server question, I intend to run a modified persistent world concept, where I have built up a number of straightforward adventures that could be run without a DM as well as running interactive events whenever I am able to be at the server. One of my main criteria though, is that after one of these adventures has been played through, it doesn't happen again.

For example, if I set up a dungeon full of evil orcs and a party comes along and cleans it out, can I change the entry point to the dungeon to point to a new area where there are no monster spawns, etc? (ie, if a party assaults the orc dungeon and fails, I want the dungeon to regenerate the orcs over a period of time so that it is still a challenge to the next group of adventurers that comes along). But when it has been "finished" I would like to point the entrance to a duplicate map that has no monsters in it.

You will easily be able to change the target point of any area transition based on conditions that you set. (e.g. going through the door takes you to the curio shop, however if your carrying the holy stone, the door takes you to a magical realm). However, with your example of respawning monsters, you may also set conditions on when they spawn. You would be able to set a delay (or other conditions) on any spawning once a party has cleaned it out. This would save time on making two identical areas.

As for ships, I will not comment on any specific game content, but Neverwinter IS a port city…
