The Dwarves Kickstarter Campaign Ends Successfully at $310,091

KING Art Games' Kickstarter campaign for The Dwarves, a real time party-based RPG inspired by the fantasy books from Markus Heitz, can certainly be called a success. The campaign ended yesterday after managing to raise $310,091, though the developers are keen inform us via an update that they have also managed to raise $24.963,42 on Paypal, which bumps the funding total to $335.054,42. As a result, one of the stretch goal for the project was also reached.

As for what the stretch goal will entail, it will apparently be decided via a backer vote, from options such as better music, new characters and quests from novel author Markus Heitz, a local co-op mode, and additional game modes. Whatever the community will decide, KING Art Games' plans for the near future are already solid, and include an early alpha release for backers with a tentative mid-December release window. Just don't be surprised if it has to be delayed:

The first alpha version

For mid-December we are planning the first "backer alpha". That is an early version of the game where you can try out the first few hours of the game and get an overall impression of it.

Participation in the alpha is of course optional to "alpha backers". But the more feedback we get, the better it is for the game. Well explain in December what the procedure of the alpha and feedback is going to be.

Congratulations to the development team. I have never read Heitz's fantasy novels myself, but I'm certainly hoping for a smooth development cycle and an enjoyable title for fans of the property and newcomers alike.
