BioWare's Tips for Better Crafting in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition lead gameplay designer Yaron Jakobs has put together a set of eleven helpful tips for any prospective players looking to achieve a better understanding of the RPG's crafting system. A sampling of what to expect from the article:

1. Many crafting materials are available in stores, so it might be worth checking them before going on long gathering hikes.

2. The most powerful crafting materials are Tier 4, which drop only from high dragons. There is a finite supply of them, so use them wisely.

3. When crafting core weapons and armors along with matching upgrades, try to make sure the materials you put across the different slots match as best as you can. Sometimes it's better to use a lower-tier material to get the stat that you want rather than something more powerful that gives a bonus you don't really need. The best pieces of equipment are those that focus on 2-3 stats total, all upgrades included.

4. When crafting armor for one character, put it on other party members of the same class to check how they look each armor unlocks an appearance for all party members of a specific class. Same for upgrades.

5. Some armor schematics have upgrades slots, and some don't. Those that don't are one-piece armors, usually restricted by race. The number of stats you can put on both types of armor is the same, but it's easier to customize the one with upgrade slots.
