I highly doubt it will retain the title of "Ultimate RPG" or even "New Britannia", but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't more than a little bit excited to hear that Ultima creator Richard Garriott has managed to secure $7 million in funding for the role-playing game's development, as well as his Ultimate Collector title. The press release does mention that the new RPG will be "primarily on mobile platforms", but I have confidence that between the Microsoft Surface tablet and Garriott's prior commitment to PC that we might see this one on the world's greatest platform (TM) yet:

The $7 million round is led by m8 Capital, a London-based venture capital firm focusing on mobile technology investments. Portalarium will invest the proceeds from the Series A financing in the final development stages of its first feature product, Ultimate Collector®, scheduled for release this summer on Facebook, browser and mobile platforms. Funding from the Series A round will also be used to launch production of Garriott's much anticipated role-playing game, Ultimate RPG / New Britannia (working title), scheduled for release primarily on mobile platforms.
