Masters of the Broken World City Screen Dilemma

Over on the official Masters of the Broken World Facebook page, the team has outlined a dilemma they're facing at the moment: how do you fit over 170 buildings on a single city overview screen? They even provide some examples from the game's 2007 prototype, Heroes of Might and Magic, Disciples, Elemental, and Civilization in order to help us decide on how to best direct their next course of action:
One of the most important interface elements in a turn-based strategy game is the city screen. It might seem like a mere picture no special visualization is necessary to show the city construction and the upgrade options to the player. However, the city screen is something larger than a mere menu. It's a visual representation of the player's progress and the results of his creative work. The city screen is a meter of the game's progress as the player advances through the campaign, his citadel grows and becomes prettier.

With Masters of the Broken Worlds city screen we faced a huge issue: there are 170 buildings (more than in Civilization V!) available for construction in the game is it even possible to fit them all within the city walls?
