Quest items..

Post by Halfdane57 »

..

Anyone know if items decay if left in chests?
I have alost of stuff taking up inventory room (Shaft for Gessen bow, Pommel Jewel, etc..), if I were dump that stuff in a chest or bookshelf in a building, like the Mayor of Umar...or The keep, will it decay?

I have try'd to minize space with scrolls cases and jem sacks, but all the message scrolls and items I find are taking up HUGE amounts of space...

or pretty much any chest, but the trick is remembering which one. Or you can just drop stuff on the floor at Nalia's Keep; that's what I do.

But do chests have a limit as to how much they can hold? I was stunned when I found the bag of holding actually had a limit.

I found that a chest has all the space you need. Image

If you think of dropping items in Nalia's Keep, make sure it is 'post-troll-invasion'. After you have defeated the trolls, the Keep maps are reset, and all items present at that point are erased.

Also, I heard you lose items in possible other Stronghold buildings when you lose them (Thieves Guild: fail to meet demands, Rangers: fail to solve quests non-violent, Keep: Roenall takes over, etc...) - in those cases, items are also erased.

Best is to use a location that somehow strikes you as a suitable location, and one that you can easily memorise. And one that does not seem likely to be 'reset' during the game, like the above mentioned Strongholds.

I use the first table inside the door of the Copper Coronet for all of my storage needs. I have installed the bonus merchants so its nice to go to the CC get Julov to identify any items, and dump stuff you dont need. The added bonus to this is that Julov only charges 75 gold for the service. Plus there are 3 merchants very close so that you can buy/sell (Julov, the thief outside of Jan's at night, and at the main desk of the CC).

I would think twice before storing stuff in quest areas. You can't go back to some of them so those items will gone forever.
