Bastila The Mountain Goat (Slight Spoilers)

Post by Archon of SFL »

The strangest thing happened last night. Bastila and I had just finished getting the 1st Star Map on Dantooine, and I thought I’d head south to the Grove and take care of the Mandalorians before going back to the Jedi Temple.

After entering the Grove, I veered left (east) by Juhani’s ruins to avoid excessive Kath Hound attacks. Then I hugged the east wall of the Grove and snuck down to where the Mandalorians are waiting. I’m just about to charge out from behind a tree when I realize that Bastila is no longer behind me. Canderous was with me, but Bastila is nowhere to be seen.

I switched over to Bastila and find out that she’s standing on top of one of those cliff faced island/plateau things just west of Juhani’s ruins. She can walk around on top of the plateau but she stops when she gets to the edge and can’t go any further.

I switched back to the PC and went back around the corner to take a look. Sure enough, there’s Bastila, way up there looking down on me. I tried running around a bit to see if she would “jump” down and follow, but she just stayed up there staring down at me.

Eventually I had to transit back to the Hawk and then transit back to the Grove to fix things up. Thank god I was able to “return to the Hawk” or I’d have probably had the game locked up since I couldn’t have left the Grove without all party members.

Anyone else had this happen?

The pathfinding AI is not very good in KotoR. When I was playing, I'd frequently find my party members lagged behind and "got lost" as I traveled through large areas. Switching back and forth among 'em seemed to be the only way to bring them altogether. Alternatively, I suppose I could have removed a party NPC from my current party, but I'd never tried that, and I don't know if the program 1) would accept this, and 2) would restore the party member to my position if I added them back in.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I'm forevever leaving party members behind. Once in a while, I'll switch back to the straggler and try to catch up, but then the PC comes running along the other way and we do a comical dance to try and regroup. I can just imagine some of the dialog this would lead to.

happened to me many times although no was climbing up a clift or something, but it is always bastila who lags behind and runs into a walll or something, which reminds me..(spoiler)

when we were on Korriban and i had mission and juhani with me, i had mission to use security on the master Uther's footlocker but she just ran through the wall into a dark void space ran into another wall into another room, ran one big circle back to the footlocker and opened it, curious eh?

When I was on the Leviathon Bastila ran up the wall and got her head stuck in the ceiling. It was kinda funny, just seeing this body running down the halls with the head stuck in the ceiling. Oh yeah, and the guards we were fighting got stuck in the ceiling too. And when I finally killed them, everything went back to normal (except Bastila), but I ran around enough and she went back to normal.

Question...
If you run around by yourself and kill things, will you level up faster as opposed to if you had party members with you? I know the experience points get split up when you have party members. Or at least... I think that's what I remember reading...?
