NWN expancion

Post by Rob-hin »

How will Argyle work with the new exp for NwN?
Will it contain the new settings (snow, desert etc.) and will we need to buy it etc...?

And.. WHEN WILL IT BE FINALLY BE RUNNING FOR REAL?

That ultimately depends on whether the expansion delivers good bang for the buck. We can certainly use the tilesets, placeables and creatures, but we don't have much (or even any) need for the p0w3rgaming Feats or Prestige Classes. If we'll be able to use the good while also keeping the bad out of the mod, we'll be interested.

From what it looks like, the expansion will be worth its price. $20 isn't much for hours and hours of fun.

Hard to say, but my guess is "soon".

That's already more precise than "when it's done". ;)

The module had its major overhaul now. Although various issues resulting from it (or being exposed by it) are still being taken care off, the wait is coming to an end. Even though the difference between "real" and "test" is only a name, we cannot shake the sneaking suspicion that lots of players give anything with the "test" label a wide berth.

I haven't tried other PWs out there myself, but from what I hear, I need not even bother. The quality of players, DMs and areas was said to be sub par (or maybe we just have ultra-high standards). On the other hand, a number of those PWs have very high player counts, so they must be doing something right. I guess it's a combination of Argyle's "test" status and the extremely harsh permadeath that keeps people away.

Does that mean we'll need to buy it or will NwN download the tilesets used in Argyle automatically?

I would consider people being granted the use of tilesets for free extremely unlikely. I realise $20 is not pocket change (especially if you're a student), but it's a bargain if you get hours and hours of fun out of it. I mean, how many hours can you go on twenty beers? ;)

Just to echo Xyx's point on other servers. I have played many of the PWs - many of them are good and have more players than Argyle.

However - the quality of the areas, dms, world background, and other playeres on Argyle is not matched anywhere else that I have played.

If you are looking for as close to a true pnp experience as possible with mature players and dms who really care about the world they are playing in - then Argyle is the only choice IMHO.
