Return of Symian Jeopardy

Post by Bloodstalker »

It's back.....what can I say, I was bored. I didn't know if Kam still wanted to do it or not, but in the meantime, I am post yet another of these games. With one difference this time....I have no idea what the catagories for the Double Jeopardy round will be. Since we have such a wide range of people and culture represented here, I figured the top five contestants from the first round will each get to pick ONE catagory for Double jeopardy and I will pull the questions from those catagories that are chosen. A little incentive for people to compete :D

Also, I have tried (hopefully successfully) to structure the questions this time around in such a way that everyone has a fair opportunity to answer correctly. I had a couple catagories last time *cuogh* entertainment* cough* that seemed to be geared mostly to U.S audiences. I wasn't aware of it until someone *cough* Ysh ;) *cough* among others brought it to my attention. I apologize :D , but honestly....you people need to watch Hee Haw from time to time :p So this time I made an effort to see that there were no vast majority of questions from the U.S. that some other contestants from different countries might not have a good shot of being exposed to.

So, that said, I will post the rules and board tommorrow at some point and clean my PM box so that some people *cough* Ned*cough* are free to correct me at will :D

Oh, and for the record, catagories for the first round are:

Science
Literature
Military History
Musical Lyrics
and...animals ;) @Viv

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Why, hello my old friend of a thread! Now I'm at University, with my 1MB line as opposed to 56k, it should really stop all those annoyances like where someone gets the answer a split-second before you... :D Seriously, though, I was intending to GM this when I got to Uni, only now I see what free time I am likely to have over the next few weeks will likely be limited by reading, working and drinking. Sleeping might get a look in there somewhere if it's really lucky. Still, I'll do my best to get a few points here and there...with the dearth of people around SYM recently it'll be hard to get the game up to the frenzied posting spree that it was last time, I fear...

Hey all, I'll join in this game. My main strength will lie in Military History and possibly Literature. Hey Kam, I'm getting a 1MB line at home on Thursday.

I shall attempt to defend my 2nd place finish I guess. :D I just hope that there isnt a day where it gets increadibly fast paced and Im stuck in US History since Reconstruction class...

Glad to see it back, though...my trivia mind hasnt been active for a little while.

It's astonishing just how good broadband is...I just downloaded the 40MB TTT video, fullscreen, in just under a minute, where before it would have taken me 3-4 hours... :p

Don't worry Tyb, I shall probably be similarly stuck in a course of lectures entitled "Greeks, Romans and Animals" ;) :D

Allright, I´ll take animals for 200.

I have completely forgotten the rules, but I will play anyway. Actually I can't remember if I forgot the rules or if I just never knew them anyway....

Ok, basic rules....I am too lazy to find the again

No googleing

you can answer any question, but once you answer you have to wait for three other responses before you submit a second answer.

You can answer as many time as you want, as long as you observe the above rule.

You don't have to wait to see if your answer is correct or not before submitting a different answer. I will award the points to the first correct answer I see when I return and check the thread.

Any answer not submited in the form of a question will be considered an incorrect answer in game context. Be careful, if you give the right answer, but don't phrase it as a question, and someone else steal your answer and phrases it correctly, they will be awarded your points.

All decisions by the judge (me) :D are final and binding, but you have every right and are indeed encouraged to publicly ridicule me for any mistakes I may have made. I'd do the same to any of you if I were in your place ;)

scores will be posted and updated in this post under the board as the happen. Now, the board.

Science...

Literature( In this case, dealing with legend and fables)

Military History

Musical lyrics(provide the artist and the song)

Animals

Board looks different this time because I am lazy and this format is easier to work with. :D

Kam....2300

Ruined Letters....300

Ysh.....1200

Gwally...1700

Scayde...400

McBane...600

Osiris...400

Ty....700

I think I'm gonna wait until more people are around to carry on, as otherwise it is a bit boring, and I'm quite obsessive ;) So when you guys want to play in the next couple of hours, post up, and I'll make my choice then...otherwise I'll end up hogging all the questions. Does that seem fair?
