A couple of people have posted problems about not being able to progress from the Host Tower pinnacle and not having the Intellect Devourer spawn after killing the Head Gaoler in the prison district. The following was posted on the Bioware forums in response to the latter problem:
This is the same issue that causes the problems at the end of chapter2. Basically, until 1.21 patch is out, do not use autosaves. Also, do not manually save in the first 5 minutes of the game or the prison area (well, you can save if you want but don't reload that game).
It's a very complicated thing to explain, but if you do the above, you will get the devourer.

Apparently 1.21 is in QA now and may be out next week. But until then... watch the saves.
Oh, it also sounds as though 1.21 will prevent, not fix this problem.

i am currently in chap. two (just killed two of the high captains of Luskan). i saved the game and went to bed. the following day, i tried to load the games and kept getting an error window (when i closed this window i got booted). i have tried all my save (auto, quick, and normal) with the same results. i have the current update and have had no trouble with the game before this. i am currently in the process of re-installing. any help would be appreciated. i hope i am not screwed.
this is totally flashing me back to POR (never did finish that game).
Is there a way to manually "unlock" Chapter 1, 2, 3, etc. without reaching them first? Then one could use an exported saved character and import him into the following chapter to bypass a game-stopping bug.
