Damn Drizzt! Help!!!

Post by nat »

Okay, I have Drizzt's WAY NICE scimitar. But he has some stupid friend mage who keeps wanting to revive him and he keeps taking the doggone sword! I've tried all things and he got fed up with me and locked me in this imprisonment place and killed my entire party!

How do I get rid Drizzt's annoying mage friend and keep my EQ? Is there any way at all?

AM DESPERATE! Really like Drizzt's sword!

You cannot keep the sword(s).

Yes, you can keep it!

but...you'll run the risk of a very annoying bug caused by lazy programming from Bioware.

The mage that shows up is Malchor - a friend, but LE at that, which doesn't make sense. You can go Slayer, or Beserk, or Prot Magic and he wont' imprison the protag - but you'll never be able to kill him, because they equipped him with the "unkillable" ring of Imoen - you'll need Shadowkeeper to take that stupid thing off of him - which in my opinion isn't cheating since no one should have the ring of Imoen - unless they are a god - which he is not.

He's still a decent fight, but even after you do that, you can keep the stuff, but he'll spawn again each time you change areas - won't attack, but will cause all dialoges to speed through. Of course, you could just kill him each time he appears for a quick 20K XP, but that's too cheezy for me.

Bioware just sucked with this - if they didn't want someone to have Drizzt the dork's equip, they shouldn't let us kill him, but to have an evil mage show up as a friend, and then not let us do fair battle, that's cheezy as well!

... but even if he's unkillable by item, the famous Project Image / Shapechange to Mind Flayer / INT drain tactic could work on him, right?

Hmmm...

Well, if you think Bioware did a bad job, then why are you playing the game? They did an excellent job on the game. What, 200 hours of game play? That's a lot. So before you go mouthing off about how lazy they are, try to consider the fact that they spent a lot of effort making this. This is arguably one of the best RPGs ever.
