rogue can't disarm traps
rogue can't disarm traps
I have a sorcerer/rogue (8/6) who doesn't seem to be able to disarm some of the traps. I am in dragon's eye and for some reason he can only disarm some of the traps on the path going in. So I am half dead by the time I get everyone in. Is there a spell I can get that will do this?
As far as I remember (been some time since I played this game), there is no spell that disarms traps.
However, there are spells that should help you out.
You have basically two options:
First, cast "cat's grace" (raises dexterity and thus the disarm skill) and other skill raising spells on your rogue and hope it'll be enough to overcome the trap's DC.
Second, you could cast protective spells (like "protection from elements") on one of your party members and let them run into the traps. Though I'm not sure if they dissappear after beeing triggered once.
Hope this helps!

I seem to recall people saying that the game can be beaten with most any party composition. In other words you don't have to have a rogue. I'm talking *most* but not including intentionally gimped like 1druid1sorc1wiz1cleric8 monk with negative wisdom and strength or something.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
I can get him to disarm some but in severed hand level three where you go into the madae room he disarms the traps but when we move forward someone dies. Rather they turn to stone fracture and cannot be put back together again. Really irritating. I even sent someone in the iron skin. worked great the traps went off. Then later someone turned to stone passing the room. upsetting. this is about my 5th time to play this game and this has never happened to me.
People have beaten the game solo with a non-rogue so it must be possible. Is this IWD1 or 2?

Right, "disarm traps" is an INT, not DEX-based skill. I always mix that up.
Anyway, have you tried casting any protective spells before entering the area?
If your character gets turned to stone, a "protection from petrification" (a wizard/sorcerer level 1 abjuration spell) would be the obvious solution.
If your characters are already petrified, a Stone to Flesh scroll should help.
