Shadow Thieves - Bugged!? *spoilers*

Post by Solusek »

In my current run I chose to work for the Shadow Thieves. I've handled every situation with conversation skills rather than violence and I've not even been using intimidate but always bluff/diplomacy.

However, the conversations with Moire are very weird. From my very first run through NWN2 I remember her always being angry with me for using non-violent methods when dealing with the Watch. This time though, also depending on the way I talk to her, she acts as if I scared and/or killed everyone.

Examples:
#1: I report back to Caleb after his first assignment. The Watch interrupts and tries to arrest us, so I bribe them and wish them a nice day. Then I talk to Moire, and she instantly threatens me(that's how that dialogue always begins). If I respond accordingly(keep talking that way and you'll find that dagger you're bragging about in your neck) she says something along the lines of "uhm... I see your handling of the Watch wasn't just talk... I like that... you're.... direct." If I respond "peacefully" though, she says quite the opposite.(Omg... you were not supposed to make friends with the Watch, you need to show them who's the boss.) So it actually seems to depend on my conversation options, rather than on what I actually did.

#2: After dealing with the four watchmen groups always having used peaceful methods, she tells me that she likes what I'm doing and that she has men crawling at her feet, begging her to work for her so that I don't visit them again.

What is wrong here? o.O Is there any way to solve this problem?

Update: I have just escorted the illegal weapon shipment to the Smuggler's Warehouse. Again I have done all in my power to avoid trouble.

First I circumvented the watchmen completely without even talking to them by straying away from the main road a bit. he next, bigger group of watchmen was distracted by Neeshka so I could pass without a fight. The last interruption caused by some rival thugs can't be avoided by conversation or stealth, so I had to kill them.

Inside the warehouse there isn't any other option than fighting either. So I mopped the floor with watchmen and returned to Moire/Axle. After a short talk with Moire, Axle greets me with the words: "Ah... Moire's little hound returns. And with the blood on his hands to prove it. Maybe I will give you a butcher shop all of your in the docks when this is all over. If there is anything left of the docks..."

What am I doing wrong? Could it be that they accidentally removed some alternate conversation lines or rather the triggers to those conversation lines with one of the patches? As I said, I am 99.99999% sure that Axle always commended me for my good work on my very first run through NWN2 in which I did things in similar fashion. I'd really appreciate it if anyone could shed some light into this as such things really hurt my gaming experience.

Another Update: I am now 100% sure this is a bug that came with one of the newer updates. No matter what you do and how you do it and what you say(I always agree with Axle/disagree with Moire), you're always the "butcher" for Axle and Moire commends you for your brutality etc.

Advice for everyone that doesn't intend to go the butcher's path with the Shadow Thieves: Choose the watch or you will get very frustrated. Even as a thief your actions will have greater impact when you're with the Watch. When you're with the Shadow Thieves you are always the mindless butcher.
