Brynn that's also a good reason, but it's not it. As meant to say before, he was fired as a result of the bomb being found, so why would a bomb being found in the morning result in him being fired?
If you think you might need a big hint, then let me know...

It was the day off and he showed up anyway? Ie the bomb was planted on a weekend and he was there at work.

> It was a massive conspiracy by the boss to blow up the office but the employee got scared and revealed that there was a bomb (in front of other employees who didn't know about it). The boss pretended to be grateful but was annoyed with the employee for ruining the plan so he fired the employee? The employee revealed the existence of the bomb in the morning while it was due to go off in the afternoon.
And how was my previous guess cheeky?

@CM: No, though keep thinking along those lines...
@Ravager: I'm sorry, but you aren't going to find the next major conspiracy working in this riddle
.
Think about possible jobs that might cause someone to be fired if they happened to find a bomb in the morning after having been sleeping...
P.S. Ravager, you know why

Hmm, I guess the last hint made it quite clear:
The guy was a nighttime security guard. He shouldn't be sleeping during his jobtime, so he got fired.
Here a riddle:
In my garden, I have a pond with on the surface little frog eggs. Each day, the amount of eggs doubles up, so when I have 4 eggs on the first day, I will have 8 eggs on the second day, 16 on the third etc.. On the 30th day, there are excactly enough eggs to lie on the entire surface. On which day were there enough eggs to fill half of the surface?

With mine, I'm guessing you meant to say 'He shouldn't be sleeping during his jobtime', in which case you are correct.
Hehehe, so many people are tricked by this... 29th day
I won't post another one, because it was rather tough, so I'll leave it for a bit.
EDIT: You beat me
Damn you, damn you all!

Whoops, yes, I had accidently backspaced 'sleeping', fixed it now.
I don't mind if you post more of those "story riddles", even though there are often more answers correct. They can be quite fun, once you get to know the missing puzzle piece.
Correct on the riddle, by the way. My math teacher told that one this morning.

Correct.
I come in darkness, but fill the mind with light.
I bring enlightenment to some, while gripping others in the hand of fear.
With me it can be a journey of inexplicable joy and sorrow.
What I will show you will often be unreachable.
Journey with me and what you see may haunt you.
Journey with me and you may never want to return home.
Journey with me and you will never know when it will end.
What am I?

You're a bus driver.
At the first stop, twelve passengers get on.
At the second stop, three passengers disembark and seven passengers get on.
At the third stop, twice as many passengers that got on at the second stop get off and three times half as many passengers that got on at the first stop get on.
At the fourth stop, two of the passengers get off, while fourteen get on.
At the fifth stop, the same fourteen get off and no one gets on.
At the sixth stop, two passengers get off and nine passengers get on.
At the seventh stop, half the amount that got off at the sixth stop get off now, and twice as many got on as got on at the third stop.
At the eighth stop, one passenger gets off and three times as many get on.
What color is the bus driver's shirt?
