Seeing the armed halflings lifted Dragon Wench's heart. Studying them, she knew that she would not want to be the object of their fury.
She then turned to Mazzy, "Where are we to meet the Radient Heart, you probably told us, but with all that has been happening, I can't recall."

Kramo is looking out the window, thinking intently of the situation. When he turned, his armor dug into his wound. Wincing, he then remembered he needed new armor.
"I'm going to the Armory, I need some new armor. I'll be back in a bit. Unless you want to come along?"

The both of them went to the armory, they were like kids in a candy store. Looking at all the armor. Kramo went to the counter and showed the smith his problem.
"This is pretty out dated, I have some that's better protection and lighter weight."
The Smith, showed Kramo the armor. It was dark green with black trim. The price was right some he bought it.
Loner, did you want anything?"

The tavern noise died down only for a moment as a hooded figure strode in. Strangers were common in these parts, particularly recently. The figure spoke in a low voice to the barman. He gestured to a table in the corner and poured two mugs of his finest ale. Tossing a few coins onto the bar, the figure walked over to the corner table.
Waverly looked up as the figure pushed a tankard of ale towards him. "You're too kind, friend... but do I know you?"
"It's been a while," Georgi said, pushing back her hood. "Mind if I join you?"
"By all means." Waverly chuckled, "I knew it was only a matter of time..."
"Well, you know me... never did like all those personal ties." Georgi sighed. "I'm surprised how long I stayed, really. But no, back to freelancing for me... no emotional attachments, just the call of the coin. Nice and simple."
"I always knew you were a lady after my own heart. As one mercenary to another, then... cheers!" he grinned, raising his mug.
Georgi took a swig of her ale. "So, you've been busy down here. Tell me, Waverly... do you have any idea of what you're involved in? It's going to be ugly."
He nodded. "Fear not, dear lady... I can take care of myself, as you well know. I doubt I'll be around long enough to witness the carnage. And where are you headed?"
"There are always rich merchants looking to hire a hand in Calimshan. I'm heading south. You be sure to look me up if your scheming doesn't finally catch up with you."
"Tell me, how do you know the Harem wenches won't catch up with you?"
"Oh... I made sure of it. It's amazing what a little suicide threat can accomplish..." especially when they know you meant it, she added silently. She glanced up at Waverly's impressed face.
"I had forgotten how resourceful you were. Still, enough of business. Let us drink and share tales of adventure..." catching the barman's eye, Waverly polished off his ale and ordered another round.

Who, me?!?
Grabbing the smith and pulling him over the counter.
"What are you trying to pull? Who put you up to this? Loner, please go in the back and find me something safer."
The smith paled even more.
"A guy in black, smooth talker, said I was to give this to you. So I figured, what the hell, why not make a few extra gold pieces. I didn't know, he wanted you dead, honest."

"This should do nicely," said Loner, emerging from the back of the shop. She looked at the armorer, considered a moment, then shook her head.
She grasped Kramo's hand as they headed back to Mazzy's house. "When I think of how close I've come to losing you, so many times..." she said..."sometimes I just get terrified..." She sighed. "Let's get back to Mazzy's and have a drink, I need one."

Holding Loner's hand as they walked.
"I'm glad I asked you along, I was just going to say, "I was stepping out for a bit.". I wonder if that was the same guy, we met on the trail." Kramo shakes his head, "No, I never seen him before. Who would know, that I needed armor?"
Kramo paled, he was starting to get a sick feeling. There were only two people, besides himself, knew that he needed armor.
"Loner, I think we are going to meet an old friend, before to long. And it's not going go to be pretty."
Kramo, started to get a feeling he had once before. That feeling was just before, the Drow ambush. Pulling Loner with him, they went into an alley. Just as six arrows, imbedded into the corner of the building.

Waverly eyed his drinking companion with suspision. Alway happy to share a pint, he could't help but suspect she was undercover for the harem. He decided to feed her a small bit of disinformation as a test...
"You know, Georgi, I can't devulge much, but it's imparitive that I get to the docks in Atkathla by midnight. I have cargo of sorts to collect."
Of course he had nothing of the sort, but decided to watch closely her actions know that she been let in on the 'secret'.

She smiled to herself. Same old Waverly, always on his guard. She didn't believe him for a moment. "I guess you can't stay for long then. I must be moving on soon myself. But first, tell me, Waverly... why are you backing the losers? It's not like you to choose your side so carelessly. You must know how powerful the Harem is. My absence will strengthen them further."
Who, me?!?
There is no 'harem' in case you had not noticed. Viv has gotten herself incapacitated, your slaves have ideas of their own, you have gone missing, and Anomen... well *you* tell *me* where Anomen is...
Waverly sat for a moment, than just as an experiment asked, "Ever wonder what it would be like to live forever?"

"No, it may not be much of a Harem anymore," she sighed, "but thanks to you, it's something better. I wouldn't be surprised if they had gathered an army by now." His question echoed in her head, another trap... "I would hate to live forever. What's the point? I'm sure for the power-hungry like you, it has its attraction... not me, however." She shook her head. "One of these days, your scheming will all turn in on you. You'll find yourself on the end of a blade."
Who, me?!?
Loner's heart stopped at the suggestion. "I don't think so, this isn't Anomen's style," she said. Though, she thought to herself, if it were, she would have no trouble at all splitting his head open...
"Well," she said, "how does one stand against snipers? Kind of outside my area of expertise, I'm afraid..."
She glanced around. The alley wasn't a dead end; there was an opening, and it looked like it curved around. She pointed this out to Kramo. "Shall we?" she asked.

In the early pre-dawn hours the familiar rattle of armor and glint of cold steel could be detected, were there someone present to bear witness. 30 strong nights in full armor, a mace in one hand and a sword in the other of each of them. Along with their own banners, they also flew a single banner of diplimocy... though it was clear they were prepared for the worst. In fact, tucked away in a saddle bag, out of sight for now, was a battle standard.
Without undue haste, but with purpose, the riders mounted and set forth.

"It's past midnight," Geordie taunted Waverly.
Waverly just smiled and toasted to the health of his drinking companion. "...and I mean it," he stressed. "May you live long, and that will require you riding far from here and forgetting the petty affairs of those who you have left behind. You seem a woman of ambition, it's a shame your childish, idealistic sensibilities cloud your judgement when you come to that all important fork in the road..." Without another word or look in her direction, Waverly exited the inn.
